Trucking Communications 

The SCDMV publishes the Motor Carrier Connection newsletter as changes to laws and policies occur. Through the newsletter, the agency provides information for motor carrier customers, from commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) to International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) accounts.

Which IRP/IFTA transactions can I process online?

If you process IRP/IFTA transactions online, you can receive your needed documents even faster. If you need assistance in the process of completing the transaction online contact the Motor Carrier Services Helpdesk at 803-896-3870.

You can do the following transactions online:

• Create a New Account
• IFTA Renew Fleet (Vehicle Listing (VIN#, Year, Make, Model and Plate Number) OR Cab Cards for each vehicle being renewed must be emailed after completion)
• IFTA Additional Decals
• IFTA Tax Return
• IRP Renew Fleet (2290 and IRP-9 must be emailed after completion)
• IRP Amend Without Fee (IRP Schedule C and IRP-9 (If Applicable) must be emailed after completion)
• IRP Replace Plate
• IRP Replace Cab Card

*Carriers submitting IRP, IFTA, or Interstate transactions through MCS online processing system are required to respond to any requested corrections and submit payment in a timely manner. If no activity occurs on an online transaction for five (5) business days, including failure to respond to correction requests or submit payment, the transaction will be deleted. If a transaction is deleted, the carrier will be required to restart the transaction from the beginning. 

To avoid delays or expiration of credentials, carriers are encouraged to:
• Monitor email regularly for requests from SCDMV
• Respond promptly to correction notices
• Submit payment as soon as the transaction is approved
