General Information for Dealers and Providers
The Electronic Vehicle Registration (EVR) Program is a piece of the SCDMV's more broad Electronic Registration and Titling (ERT) program. EVR is only one component of ERT.
The Electronic Registration and Titling (ERT) program allows authorized business partners to apply for titles and registrations on newly purchased vehicles electronically. The ERT system is supplied through a service provider that works with the SCDMV.
This is a two-step process. In step one, the dealer enters all the appropriate information and issues a dealer temporary tag to the buyer on the date of sale. In step two, the dealer finalizes the electronic application for the title and registration. Once this is completed and you submit the paperwork, the license plate, title and registration will be mailed to the owner. If there's a lien on the vehicle, the title will go to the lienholder.
